Marquetry

Marquetry

I create my original hand-cut marquetry, (and mixed-media marquetry), from a vast collection of salvaged and up-cycled exotic and domestic wood veneers, foils, and papers, utilizing an army of custom-honed knives, and judiciously applied inks, pencils, paints, pastels, and even an occasional crayon.

If you're not gonna have fun with it then what's the point, eh ?

Cutting and combining the materials to form an interesting picture is a one-of-a-kind, labor-of-love-intensive-process, but it is actually the fun half of what will become the laboriously sanded and framed work; all of it touchable, under layers of shellac, lacquer and hand-rubbed wax.
